With four decades of experience, Allnorth provides multi-disciplinary engineering and construction services to the mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and infrastructure sectors across North America. Services include civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and process engineering as well as surveying, materials testing, 3D scanning, geographic information systems, environmental assessment and monitoring, and project and construction management.
Allnorth’s story began in 1978, when Allnorth Engineering commenced operations in Prince George, BC, offering structural engineering services to the pulp and paper industry. Immediately after graduating with an engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992, Darby Kreitz joined Allnorth and saw tremendous potential to take the company outside of its current boundaries. Darby and the then owner of Allnorth developed an arrangement to incorporate Allnorth Consultants Limited, and commence business on January 1st 1995, taking over the original company in 1999. Darby has overseen the growth of the company from one office in Prince George to multiple offices located across Canada and the U.S. with over 450 employees.
Today, in 2020, Darby continues to lead Allnorth as CEO, and is proud to celebrate Allnorth’s 25th anniversary of stellar growth with his team. Since those early days, Allnorth has stayed true to what we have always believed in – that our clients and professionals deserve our best – and this is still the foundation for our dynamic domestic and global operations today.
Allnorth is a company that does not measure success solely by the financial bottom line. We are committed to achieving our success through engaging and empowering our team and clients for the success of their projects.
Team, clients, and profitability are the three segments of our Triple Bottom Line (TBL) approach to leading Allnorth. We believe our TBL bonds our team to our clients in a manner that drives profitability. One cannot exist without the other.
Within each segment of the TBL, we identify three strategic imperatives; these are the essential areas that we focus on to succeed and deliver. These are the specific areas that comprise our Strategic Framework, which will ultimately determine and prioritize the specific activities at Allnorth.
We value tremendously the experience, contributions and curiosity of our team. At Allnorth, we empower our people at all stages of their professional development to identify ways to drive innovation, forge client relationships and optimize our business performance. We recognize the importance of an engaged team, working proactively to enrich both the lives of our clients, the team spirit between work colleagues, and the communities in which we work. Just recently, Allnorth was awarded the Employee Recommended Workplace Award by Morneau Shepell and The Globe and Mail for 2020. This is the third time in a row Allnorth made the list. The Award is based entirely on feedback from employees and is the only award of its kind, recognizing excellence in achieving a healthy, engaged and productive workforce.
While we have grown from a small company to a team of over 450, we have maintained our core values of creating lifelong relationships and providing quality solutions through excellent client service. Our success story is built on our unwavering commitment to our clients, and fostering those relationships year after year. We listen to our clients’ desired outcomes for their projects, collaborate with them on the parameters for success, and execute our assignments accordingly. We do what we say we will do - and hold ourselves accountable to that commitment.
Quality and safety are two more pillars that support our organization. To ensure the health and well-being of our team, we have established the guiding principle of “Safety in Everything We Do”. This philosophy forms the foundation for our Team and our practices, supporting how we make decisions for our business. Providing a safe and healthy workplace for our team is paramount, and we expect that all Team Members contribute to and cultivate this culture. In return, our team will demonstrate our strong commitment to safety, with our clients and each other.
Allnorth is the first company to be nationally certified through the Organizational Quality Management Program, commonly called OQM, in the provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland/Labrador, and as well in the United States. Our clients can be confident that Allnorth is a leader in its commitment to quality management practices and standards.
At Allnorth we also strongly believe in building and maintaining mutually respectful relationships with all stakeholders in the communities where we operate, and developing strong, sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities. This means we ensure quality community relations because the dignity and well-being of those we impact are of prime importance to us. At the heart of what we do is the desire to improve the lives of our clients and partners, and the communities in which they live. The viability and sustainability of the communities our clients and partners call ‘home’ forms the foundation for how we approach all of our initiatives. We strive to develop a thorough understanding and respect of the rights, culture, values and aspirations of all Indigenous communities, generating a beneficial balance for all parties involved.
To conclude, we are most grateful for what we have achieved in the past 25 years and are confident about the future of Allnorth as we look toward new opportunities and continued growth in our diverse fields of service in Canada and globally, with the continued support of our trusted clients and all-star team.
